How to preset game difficulty, resolution and more on PS5

The PlayStation 5 is a really powerful console and it brings a ton of awesome new features. You get 4K 120FPS support, 8K support, adaptive triggers, a handy create button for streaming, and more. One of my favorite PS5 features is the ability to set custom presets. It takes the hassle out of going through all the options in games to set your preferred resolution, difficulty level, and more. If you also play most of your games on the same settings, here’s how to preset game difficulty, resolution, etc. on PS5

Preset Game Difficulty, Resolution and More on PS5

The PS5 allows you to use presets for various in-game settings. While these settings will affect most games you will play on your PlayStation, there may be some games that do not support certain settings, in which case these presets will not apply to them.

In this article, we’ll see how to use preset difficulties, resolution, FPV and TPV camera options, subtitles, and more for all your PS5 games. If you’re just looking for the methods to preset a specific option, you can use the table of contents below to jump straight to that section.

Preset game difficulty

If you’re a casual gamer like me, you probably don’t play on the hardest difficulty settings. So why go to the trouble of selecting an easy difficulty setting or a normal difficulty setting in every game, right?

  • Just go to Settings -> Saved Data and Game/App Settings.
  • Select ‘Game Presets’ and go to ‘Difficulty’.

  • You can now use a preset difficulty between the easiest and the hardest.

This will apply to games that offer difficulty settings within their options. Most games offer this option, so this is definitely something you can take advantage of.

Preset game performance mode/resolution mode

If you want to get the best gaming experience in terms of frame rates, you should probably preset your PS5 to run in performance mode. On the other hand, you can use Resolution mode if you don’t care much about FPS in your games, but want the graphics to look as spectacular as possible.

  • Just go to Settings -> Saved Data and Game/App Settings.

Preset First and Third Person View Settings

People who play a lot of games often have very specific preferences about inverted camera movements. If you’re tired of always having to adjust settings in games to reverse camera movement, you can preset it by following the steps below.

  • Go to Settings -> Saved Data and Game/App Settings.

Preset subtitles and audio settings

Many games that have single-player campaigns have subtitles to ensure you can follow the conversations. If you’re like me, you prefer to keep the subtitles. See how you can ensure subtitles are always on in games that support them.

  • Go to Settings -> Saved Data and Game/App Settings.

  • Select ‘Game Presets’ and select ‘Subtitles and Audio’.
